Boy’s Birthday Card

This card was created for The Male Room challenge – theme – Little Boys.

Boy's birthday

I created this shaker card with a little boy in mind. I think kids love all things that make noise or are interactive and fun.

I started with choosing a stamp set and decided on Avery Elle – Ellie set. I decided on soft blue colors for this card and colored the images with alcohol markers then did some fussy cutting.

For the background I choose to do some inking with Distress Ink (Salty Ocean and Broken China) then heat embossed the bubbles that came in the stamp set so it would look like Ellie is blowing bubbles out of her trunk. I wanted to leave the rest of the background pretty clean as I wanted the sequins and colored images to stand out as the focal point of the card.

I die cut the frame from blue cardstock, adhered the acetate to the frame with liquid glue and added two layers of foam tape to the frame to have enough dimension for sequins.

As I was assembling the card I decided to adhere the balloons on the inside of the shaker and the elephant on the outside directly on acetate.

I used Recollections 110 lb cardstock that I cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and created a top folding card base.

I hope this post gives you some inspiration for little boys/kids cards
