I’ve posted this card on my Instagram account yesterday and am following up today on my blog with the details.
Lola the giraffe by Kat Scrappiness is one of the images I colored during http://www.thedailymarker.com/ 30 day coloring challenge. Tomorrow is the last day of our coloring challenge (day 30) for this round at least, and it makes me a little bit sad. I am really going to miss daily interaction with all the wonderful people that were participating.
On a brighter note, I now have A LOT of images that are colored, cut and ready to be used on my future projects.
I choose the colors that would coordinate with the image, so I started with creating a background for this card. I used Hero Arts Tribal Striped Bold Prints background stamp that I inked up with Distress inks (Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Rustic Hinge) then lightly misted with water.
I stamped the image on a piece of white cardstock and after it dried I die cut the panel to 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 size with a stitched rectangle die by My Favorite Things.
I decided to add two layers of colored cardstock to bring out the colors of the giraffe so I die cut a black and yellow panels of cardstock and adhered them to a standard size card base (Michaels Recollection’s 110lb).
Next I heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger Yellow embossing power, trimmed it down with scissors and added foam tape to the back. I also added foam tape to my giraffe image.
I added the stamped background to the card base, then adhered the image and the sentiment.
Lastly, I embellished the card using 3 colors of Nuvo Crystal Drops (Dandelion Yellow, Ripened Pumpkin and Ebony Black)
