Hello crafty friends!
I am back with another mermaid card today π
As you can see I am somewhat obsessed with the Beautiful Mermaids from Simon Says Stamp… I just cannot get enough of them and all mermaids in general!
For today’s card I did paper piecing – the embossed paper that came in the kit is so amazingly beautiful I had to use it again!
It is however one of those specialty papers that you never want to use or cut into because it’s just too pretty! I did save a piece so I can just admire it forever – Ha ha!
I started by stamping the mermaid, coloring then fussy cutting her. For the tail I used the scarp piece of Tonic specialty embossed paper – I stamped just the tail part of the mermaid in black ink. This paper is very textured and dark and it was pretty hard to see the stamped image.
I had to restamp it several times to get somewhat of an impression. I fussy cut the tail and adhered it to the mermaid using liquid glue. Since the paper is very textured I placed the mermaid under acrylic block making sure the tail adheres properly.
The background was created using Distress inks in Faded jeans, Broken china, Tumbled glass and Peacock feathers. I started blending faded jeans on the bottom then continued with broken china and tumbled glass making sure not to put much color in the middle and top of my panel.
I wanted to create a glow in the water as the light was coming from the sun. When the blending was done I die cut the panel with stitched rectangle die and added water droplets to create bubble effect.
Once the background was dry I white heat embossed the sentiment in the top right corner and adhered the mermaid using foam tape.
To embellish the card I used Nuvo drops.
