Hello crafty friends!
I have a really cute card to share today and am very excited about it! I have tried something new – a digital stamp π
I have to admit I was pretty nervous about using digital stamps as I wasn’t sure how my printer ink would take alcohol markers – I was very afraid that it would smear. I did read a few posts about the best way to work with digis and decided to take the easiest and not always 100% proof route. Just print it on your home printer and let the ink dry preferably over night and color away as you would any other stamped image.
Digital stamp I have used is, I believe last month’s, freebie from Gerda Steiner Designs.
Look at how adorable this birthday bear is! How can you not put him on a card!!
I started coloring him with my alcohol markers and I didn’t have any smearing issues at all. I colored the image in blues, browns and gray for the ground.
I wanted to match the balloon to the rest of the image and color it blue but I decided to do some ink blending instead of coloring the entire balloon with markers.
Well… this is when the things started going slightly south!
As I started ink blending the letters started to smear (as you can see on the photo above) so I immediately stopped ink blending and left it as is. I was really afraid I would ruin the entire image. I decided to color the letters in blue ombre and hopefully that would give the balloon enough pop and interest and was satisfied with the result.
Next I cut the mask for the image and stenciled some blue bubbles for the background behind the bear.
I found blue polka dot patterned paper in my stash and die cut it slightly larger than my digi image. I die cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to add as an extra layer and to frame the panel. I also added a strip of white cardstock to compliment the front colored panel and the card base.
I adhered the completed panel to A2 size white card base and my card was finished.
I have to say I am very happy how this card turned out and I think I will give other digital stamps a try in the future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today!
Happy crafting π
