Beautiful Mandala – Die Cut Inlay

TTM1

Hello friends and welcome back!

A few days  ago Technique Tuesday started their once a year Progressive Sale. I was inspired to create something with their product and choose this beautiful Mandala Die. I have been planning to play with it for a while and last weekend was just perfect as it was raining all weekend long.

I have took several photos of the process – it took me nearly 4 hours to complete this beauty from start to finish (I did take a few short breaks to stretch my legs but it was about a 4 hr process).

I started with the idea of making a rainbow mandala and die cut all of my cardstock in rainbow order.

I also wanted to add dimension to every other layer so I die cut half of them twice and started assembling my mandala.

I cut a piece of cardstock 4.25 x 4.25, marked the center point with a pencil and started adhering my die cut pieces. Above is the photo of the first two mandala parts adhered – yellow has two layers.

I kept on adding pieces in rainbow order and adding an extra die cut layer for dimension.

Next I started filling in the empty spots starting in the middle with the tiny yellow pieces and working my way out. Once I reached the last outer area I realized that the blue will most likely overwhelm other colors so I die cut dark and light teal pieces of cardstock as well, to inlay to the final green part.

This did change my rainbow mandala plan a bit but I just went with it because it was turning out very beautiful. Below is the close up where you can see the dimension.

Once I was done with all die cut inlaying I decided that Nuvo drops would really work for this piece. I pulled out as many similar colors as I had, started in the middle and work my way out.

Here is the photo after all Nuvo drops were applied. Lots of dimension right!? I love it 🙂

Below I included few photos of the finished card. I choose to skip the sentiment as I am unsure if I will use it for a birthday card, some different occasion or… frame it maybe 🙂
