Hi crafty friends,
My Instagram friend @rightbrainart recently started #artforkindness challenge and I have seen some really amazing creations so far.
I got so inspired to create one as well and actually ended up with 4 cards with pretty much the same design, just different colors.
I knew I wanted to use Pink Fresh Studio Botanical Branch Die for this project. It is such a beautiful die and that’s probably how I’ve ended up with 4 cards! Ha!
I started with choosing the paper I was going to use for my diecutting and decided on previously made backgrounds. I often create a background after I am done ink blending for a specific project. There is usually a decent amount of ink left on my work surface – I spray it with fine mist and do some ink smooshing on a piece of scrap cardstock.
Because of this “habit” I have a LOT of backgrounds stashed away and don’t remember to use them very often.
For the card with lavender colors I believe was a Distress ink in Wilted Violet.
I used two dies (Pink Fresh Studio Botanical Branch and My Favorite Things Stitched rectangle for the frame) to create the look.
I adhered both diecuts directly to my card base – Botanical Die is very delicate and it was little harder to align it just right. The sentiment (My Favorite Things) was stamped in gray and trimmed to a strip. I added pearls to embellish it.
The other 3 cards plus the lavender one are very similar and are pictured below.
The first two from the left are positive and the negative of the same die cut background – that background was just too pretty to go to waste so I had to make 2 cards 🙂 I added sequins to the first one and pearls to the second one to embellish them.
The two pastel colored backgrounds made very soft card designs (above).
This bolder red variation was my first alcohol ink background gone BAD!!! I seriously had no idea what I was doing with alcohol inks and after adding way too much ink and foil I stopped and let it dry although I couldn’t see it using ever. It looked like a hot mess!
I did keep it (I rarely throw away my crafty projects even if they go south) and I am glad I did because it does look pretty good once die cut. This is a very busy and splattery (is that a word?) design but I like it because of it’s boldness.
It was fun to play with some unused backgrounds and create a few cards that I am sure I will use in the future.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
