Hello crafty friends!
I am back today with two same but different card projects using Altenew Starry Night stamp set. I fell in love with this stamp set as soon as I saw it – it just looks magical to me and I couldn’t help but making two cards with it right away.
I started with die cutting two pieces of Bristol smooth cardstock with stitched rectangle die and white heat embossing the tree image on both pieces.
I choose 4 blue shades of distress ink for these cards – Tumbles Glass, Broken China, Salty Ocean and Blueprint sketch.
For my first card (photo above) I started with blending Salty Ocean on the edges only then continued working towards the middle blending Broken China then Tumbled Glass. I left the area around the tree very light as I wanted the tree to look like it’s glowing.
I did add more ink to the actual tree to stand out from the glow around it.
To create the look of falling snow I added water droplets and set the panel aside to dry while I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum. My vellum warped a little bit as my heat gun seems to be on it’s last leg – yep, I have it my Christmas wish list π
Now that my background panel was dry and I added craft foam to the back and adhered it to the card base. I added the vellum strip and my first card was done.
I choose darker color scheme for this card, starting with Blueprint sketch and adding Broken china in some areas leaving it a bit patchy to get a different look from the previous card.
I knew I wanted to add vellum over the entire panel so I added a lot more ink to this background as the vellum mutes the colors. I added water droplets to this panel as well and padded them dry.
I added a piece of previously die cut vellum over the panel then added silver ribbon to the top of the card panel and added little silver bow to the top of the tree.
I adhered my finished panel to the card base and my second project was done!
P.S. I am not going to tell you these were quick and easy to make… the ink blending took a while, especially on the first card. I went over the whole panel 3 times to get the look I wanted and got a pretty good arm workout π
I really hope you enjoyed both projects I shared with you today. Thank you for stopping by π
