Hey my crafty friends!
New challenge is starting at The Male Room Challenge Blog and this fortnight’s theme #110 is Add An Age.
Well, I’ve been thinking about who’s birthday card I need to create next, so I can “add an age” π and my husband’s birthday I coming up in June, so this year I will be prepared, well in advance, with his birthday card π
I have made so many cards for him in the past and it took me a bit to decide on what to make. My hubby loves the ocean and his dream home would be by the beach somewhere warm – hence ocean view through the window.
For my design inspiration I scrolled through Pinterest (this not something I do often – all my designs usually pour right out) but my mojo wasn’t at it’s highest, so my friend Pinterest came to the rescue π
For my woodgrain background I used a piece of patterned paper from my stash. The scene in the window and window frame are both from previous Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kits (February and June 2018 I believe). Sentiment is from Technique Tuesday Lots of Sentiments stamp set.
To create this card I trimmed the patterned paper to 5 x 5 1/4, distressed the edges and inked them lightly with Vintage photo Distress Ink. Window frame was die cut 3 times and stacked. I added shading with light gray alcohol marker.
Scene was created with layering stamps from Hero Arts June 2018 kit, trimmed to fit the window frame then adhered to the woodgrain base. I adhered the window frame next.
I added number 56 (Add An Age – part of this card) with a brush using the same color ink I stamped the footsteps with.
Jute twine was added on all four sides of the card, twisted and doubled on the two sides to get more nautical look.
For embellishments I used an anchor from my stash and brads on the sentiment.
I popped the completed panel on craft foam and adhered it to 5 x 10.5 card base.
I think my husband will love this card as much as I do! Now I just have to wait until June to give it to him π
Thank you so much for stopping by today and taking the time to read this post!
Wishing you a wonderful, crafty day π
