The Male Room Challenge #116 – Surf’s Up

TMR 116

Hello crafty friends!

It’s time for the new challenge at The Male Room Craft Challenge Blog! This fortnight’s challenge theme is Surf’s Up πŸ™‚ Super fun right, after last Christmas in July challenge, this one put me right back into the summer mode.

_116The card I made for today’s post is a bit different from my usual cards – this one is patterned papers only – no stamping.

As I was getting ready to make the card for this challenge, I realized I do not own a single surf themed stamp or die set, but what I did find was a pack of Hawaiian themed scrapbook paper (back from my scrapbooking days).

After looking through the paper pack, I choose several pages with images of surf boards, cars, sentiments and one for the sky.

I fussy cut the elements and darkened the edges with distress ink in Walnut Stain.

I used Sunny Studio Catch a Wave dies to create the waves – I added snow marker and embossed the caps.

For the sand, I used a piece of kraft cardstock, and added some splatter with Walnut Stain distress ink mixed with water, then once it was dry, added white dots with white gel pen.

I adhered all the layers to the card base, popping smaller surf boards and cars with foam tape.

To finish the card, I inked all edges with the same Walnut Stain Distress ink. I love the way this card turned out – it reminds me of the retro surf postcards πŸ™‚
