The Male Room Challenge #131 Team Colors

TMR 131

Hello crafties and welcome back!

Today we have a new 131 challenge starting at The Male Room Challenge with a very fun theme – Team Colors!

Our guest designer Betty has created a really awesome card which I just love! Take a peek at her card and post HERE.

I am not too much into watching sports so it was a bit hard for me to figure out what am I going to create and what colors to use. After getting some ideas from my husband (who’s family enjoys watching many sports all year round) I decided on the colors of some of the football/soccer teams here is Seattle area.

Our football team’s colors are blue, white and lime green, and soccer team’s colors/jerseys are lime green so I went with greens for my card.

I really felt like doing some ink blending so I started by choosing Lucky Clover, Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks then went searching for a stencil.

I dug into my stash and found a stencil from Fiskars I purchased several years ago and really love the design. I tried finding it online but had no luck, however I remember it came in two pack, 8.5 x11 and maybe 6×8 size so it might have been a wall stencil. If I end up fining it I’ll link it up here later.

I die cut a panel of Bristol smooth cardstock to slightly smaller than standard A2 size card case, adhered the cardstock to the stencil then stencil to my craft mat (so nothing moves πŸ˜‰ and started ink blending.

I began lightly blending the inks from light to dark, beggining in the center and working my way out. That way I didn’t have to have several different brushes, I only used 1 and if ink colors are from the same family you get a much smoother blend.

Once the ink blending was completed, I added dark green Nuvo drops to the middle and set it aside to dry for a day (Nuvo drops take at least 24 hrs to dry and mine weren’t completely dry as the dots got flat after I placed the panel under the acrylic block a day later).

Next day, I die cut the sentiment (from My Favorite Things) which I ink blended as well, only this time on colored cardstock.

I die cut the second sentiment from green craft foam and adhered the two together.

I adhered the sentiment to the inked panel then adhered the completed piece to the card base and my card was finihsed!

Thank you so much for sticking around to the end of the post1 I really hope you like the card and got inspired to join us πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful rest of your week and Happy Crafting!

What a fun guy card Ana! And super neat to hear you are from the Seattle area. We love to travel there to see my sister and her family. And it has so many fun things to see…the underground city, the market, the flight museum, the blown glass place ( I forget the name), and tons of places to get craft supplies…and so much more:)
